Set out from Olympic Village and discover Vancouver from the water this summer.
All visitors are required to follow all COVID-19 requirements, including but not limited to:
- Wearing a mask while on land (not required while on water)- disposable masks available at check in, or reusable ones available online here.
- Not coming if you are feeling sick in any way (cough, flu, sneezing, fever), have been outside of Canada in the last 14 days, or if you are a confirmed COVID-19 contact.
- Maintaining proper social distance by following instructions and painted marks while in line for check-in and on the docks.
All rentals include use of the boat, paddle, safety equipment, and personal flotation device. Kayaking is easy to learn and is great for beginners. You will be given a brief use overview prior to your session.
If you have no experience with kayaking, we offer an Intro to Kayaking course. Please click here for details.
Due to COVID-19, our fleet of available boats has been adjusted. Please note the following available boats at this time:
- Single Kayak: $25/55 minutes
- Tandem Kayak: $50/55 minutes (if booking a tandem kayak, please ensure the other person is part of the same household to comply with social distancing measures at this time)
All prices are plus taxes. Reservations are required at this time. Please reserve online at register.dragonboatbc.ca.
If you have a gift certificate or coupon, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance. Any gift card or promotional bookings are not accepted on the same day. Any reservations involving gift cards or promotional bookings must be requested and confirmed at least 1 day in advance of the requested time.

What to Wear
No special clothing is required for rentals. We suggest layering your clothing so that you can add or take off layers depending on the weather. Ideal clothing includes:
- Dry-fit clothing (shorts and t-shirt if hot, long sleeved shirts/shell pants/water resistant jackets if cold)
- Hat or cap
- An old pair of runners or flip flops
Don’t forget to bring a water bottle and sunscreen!
Our facility is on the docks outside of Creekside Community Centre, 1 Athletes Way, Vancouver, at the foot of Ontario Street just south of Science World.
If you are taking transit, Main Street Science World is the nearest stop. Visit translink.ca to plan your trip here. There is free street parking in the area and there is pay parking underground.
DUE TO COVID-19, CREEKSIDE COMMUNITY CENTRE IS CLOSED. WASHROOMS, WATER BOTTLE REFILL STATIONS, AND SHOWERS ARE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time so that you can use the washrooms and water bottle refill stations inside the community centre before coming down to the dock.
If you have brought bags with you, you can either store them in the lockers inside the community centre if you have your own lock, or take them with you on the boat. If you take your personal effects with you in the boat, they will get wet or you may lose them in the water.
We strongly recommend leaving your valuables at home. Avoid bringing large bags, as locker space and availability is limited.
When you are ready, please proceed directly to the docks; the red tent at the end of the dock is your check in area. Plan to check-in around 10 minutes before your scheduled start time.
Help speed up your check in process by having a waiver pre-completed and printed out to give to our staff. Youth aged 18 or under are required to have a parent/guardian sign their waiver. Visit dragonzone.ca/downloads to get your waiver.
General Rules and Procedure
Paddlers who are not pass holders may be required to provide valid photo ID and a credit card as a deposit while you are on the water.
Your reservation time starts at the time booked. If you have 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM booked, you should be on the water at 2:00 PM. During COVID-19, slots have been shortened by 5 minutes total to allow enough social distancing on the docks between changeovers. Please ensure you return by the end of your time, as other users will be waiting for the boat. Late rental returns will be subject to penalties.
All paddlers must wear an approved PFD while in the boat at all times. Paddlers are not allowed to take off their PFD at any time while on the water. Each kayak will also have all the required safety equipment. You will be given a brief kayak familiarization before you depart.
All children under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult. At least one person in a tandem kayak and canoe must be 18 years of age
It is highly recommended that you bring your cell phone with you in case of an emergency.
The following are prohibited activities. In case of breach of these rules, your session may be terminated immediately without any refund or credit provided.
- Feeding or provoking wildlife
- Trespassing on private property
- Intentional capsizing or swamping
- Going beyond the boundaries as explained to you by staff at the time of your check-in.
- Paddling while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly banned. Any breach of this rule will lead to an automatic and permanent blacklist.
Refunds and Transfers
Refunds for any reason including ones initiated by Creekside Kayaks are subject to a 25% holdback fee if requested at least 7 days prior to your rental session. No refunds will be issued within 7 days of your rental session. Only a credit to be used within the calendar year will be offered between 7 days prior to your rental session until 5:00 PM on the last day we are open before your rental session. No credit will be offered if your request is received after 5:00 PM on the day we are open before your rental session.
Name changes on the reservation are permitted at any time. If your reservation is prepaid, the original reservation holder should contact us ahead of time to notify us that the reservation will be under a different individual.
If you arrive late, staff will try and provide you with your originally booked length of session at their discretion. No refunds or credits will be provided for partial sessions missed due to late arrival or a lesser number of boats used than originally booked.
We reserve the right to end or cancel your rental session for any reason including for safety reasons, disruptive or inappropriate conduct, or failure to abide by our rules and policies including waiver submission, without refund.
